Mr Hickmott of the Rising Sun P.H., Bps. Stortford, complains at 11:15pm that about 11:20am today he was driving his pony & cart along the Thorley Road & a motor car met him and frightened his pony & the trap turned over & through [threw] his wife & himself & a friend to the bank & his little daughter was thrown out so the cart wheel ran over her, but only Mrs Hickmott was hurt, she having a sprained ankle. His cart is smashed. The motor car never stopped & Mr Hickmott said it was travelling at 25 miles an hour. The motor was carrying 3 men & was painted slate & light chocolate colour, that is all description he can give. I went up to the Railway Hotel & saw a motor car which came from that way carrying 2 men but Mr Hickmott said it was not the one.Police officer
