Devon Constabulary, Exeter, 10th Mar. 02 Thomas Powell and Thomas Jackson committed for trial at the next Devon assizes for breaking into a church and stealing contribution boxes on the 28th ult. Thomas Powell, navvy, 39 years of age, 5 ft 6 ins, medium build, fresh complexion, dark brown hair & moustache, brown eyes – marks – two ink dots left wrist, states he is a native of Bristol. Thomas Jackson, navvy, 38 years of age, 5 ft 5¾, medium build, brown eyes, sallow complexion, dark brown hair, marks scar left forearm, mole right shoulder blade, and white spot back of neck, states he is a native of Peterborough. Both these men state they have worked on Public Works in all parts of the country. We should be glad if you would cause your records to be searched respecting these men and if anything be known respecting these, kindly send me particulars & forward this as per route at back. Sgt.
