E Frere Esq, Thorley House, Thorley reported at this station about 5.30 pm that about 5. 5 pm this day he was coming along the Thorley Road just this side of PC Farrer’s House when he saw a horse and cart being driven towards Sawbridgeworth on the wrong side of the road. A man riding a bicycle was coming from Sawbridgeworth riding on the right side of the road. The man tried to get by the cart but the cart hit the bicycle and knocked the man off. There were two men in the cart and they looked like Dealers . They did not stop to see what damage they had done. The man on the bicycle is Alexander Gillander, Bury Green, Much Hadham. He was knocked into the hedge but was not hurt but the front wheel of his bicycle is doubled up.Towns and villages
