Alfred Newth, landlord of the White Swan P.H., Bps. Stortford, reports losing from his trap at Spelbrook at 6:30 pm this day, a rust-colored [coloured] knee cloth with red bordering. He states that he drove up to the Greyhound P.H. and went into the house leaving the cloth in th trap. He was there about 15 minutes. He came out & got part the way home when he missed the cloth. There were about 5 or 6 men in the Greyhound when he went in and he noticed one of them get up and go out but he could not say whether this man took the cloth or not.
