Wanted on warrant charged with obtaining foods and other goods on false pretences. Also goods from several trades. Known as Major Brisko, alias Major Bartlett, Henry Carter, RB Graham, etc. Aged 61 but looks younger. 5ft 9, rather slim, pale complexion, grey hair, bald on top, heavy waxed moustache, scar on right side of nose, mole on left cheek, wearing light grey tween suit with matching cap, brown shooting boots, Wolesely collar… [unfortunately illegible] …transferred to County Bank… took from various tradesmen including stationers, such papers as the Army and Navy Gazette, Country Life, and other expensive papers, absconded from here on 24th inst and is known to have committed similar offences at Hatfield. Was last seen walking from Hatfield to Hertford on evening of 29th inst. Please cause enquiries to be made in your district at stationers, tailors, etc as he is apparently going short stages.
