From: Telephone message book: 11 Aug 1902 - 27...From Superintendent Hassell to All Stations – Stolen by means of housebreaking from Two Rose Cottage London Colney between 2.30 and 5.30 p.m. 26th Inst. one old brown leather purse containing 10/- in silver, one silver chain curb pattern, two silver studs, one old silver watch glass and small hands missing, gold dress ring set with three white stones, three white silk handkerchiefs and a gilt horseshoe pin, the property of Joseph Ivory, also one black coat and vest, square cut, flap pockets, seam down back, velvet back to waistcoat, black buttons, nearly new, prayer book in one pocket and a silk handkerchief in breast pocket, one silver watch Livers make with silver curb pattern chain attached the property of Herbert Gaddin supposed by a man 5 ft 9, thin face, dressed in dark clothes, walks lame, carrying a bundle tied in red handkerchief.
