From: Telephone message book: 11 Aug 1902 - 27...From Deputy Chief Constable to All Stations – Wanted here on Warrant charged with deserting two children which are chargeable to the Hitchin Guardian since 9 January 04 George Pennington, age 50, 5 ft 5 1/2, hair black, thin beard turning grey, eyes blue, complexion fresh, scars on both legs, face rather blotchy, thin face, stoops slightly, carries one shoulder higher than other, a carpenter by trade usually dresses in dark old clothes and old straw hat, may be found at common lodging houses, if found arrest and wire to D.C.C.
