From: Telephone message book: 11 Aug 1902 - 27...From Superintendent Wood to All Stations – Stolen from a lodging house here on 19th Inst the property of Edwin Hill a new black jacket suit, a pair of dark green striped trousers bell bottoms, a turned down collar and front, in the inside coat pocket of jacket were three Insurance Policies two Prudential and one Pearl in the name of Edwin Hill also Pearl Insurance book by a man about 40, 5 ft 8, fair hair and light heavy moustache, fair complexion, Scotch accent, stout build, hard hat, this man makes leather puzzle purses which he sells in Public or Beerhouses, please cause enquiries etc.
