From: Telephone message book: 11 Aug 1902 - 27...Copy of information from the Post Master at Sheffield. Robbery at Postal Stores at Gibraltar Street, Sheffield on the night of the 6 & 7 instant. It is reported on the night of the 6 & 7 instant the lock up premises in which the Gibraltar Street Post Office is carried on were broken into by some person or persons unknown & certain Postal Orders from a locked up drawer, part of the Office stock, together with about £3 in money. The following Postal Orders are amongst those missing H32665361 \ 665370 \ 729170 for 4/6, J70282541 \ 282570 \ E1709461 E709470, H478861, K915001 for 5/-, It is not thought the Office stamp was used on the missing Orders.
