Drowned Man - Watford
From: Telephone message book: 11 Aug 1902 - 27...From Superintendent Wood to All Stations – Found drowned at Grand Junction Canal at Lady Capels Wharf Watford on 6th Oct 03 a man, name unknown, age about 40, length about 5 ft 4 or 5, hair & moustache dark brown, stout build, dress black jacket & trousers, red striped cord waistcoat, striped shirt with turn down collar, merino pants, woollen socks, brown boots, found on body a 9 ct gold ring set with green stone, red spots two white pocket handkerchiefs with C.H. Grove thereon in corner, one penny, metal watch, pipe & tobacco pouch, knife had pencil watch key and two latch keys, please cause enquiries to be made information to Superintendent Wood Watford.
