From: Telephone message book: 11 Aug 1902 - 27...From Deputy Chief Constable to All Stations – Missing from her home at 5 Tilehouse Street, Hitchin from 3.30 p.m. Sunday 7th Inst Louisa Maria Newton, 52 years, about 5 ft 6, hair brown turning grey with false plaits, dressed in shabby black satin skirt no trimming, black print blouse of a small white pattern, black straw hat trimmed with chiffon with black feather, under clothing marked Newton, black buttoned kid boots, had in her possession about 22/6 in gold and silver, this lady has been in a private asylum and it is feared that some ill has befallen her.
