Wanted In Basingstoke - Joseph F Hill
From: Telephone message book: 11 Aug 1902 - 27...From Chief Constable to All Stations – Copy of Information Hants Constabulary Basingstoke 18 Jan 1903. Wanted here on Warrant for stealing on 17th Inst a very old 18 ct gold English lever watch, chased back, open face, white dial, black figures and steel hands, cap back case, spring weak, a 9 ct gold Albert chain attached, fancy links, hall marked on swivel, a quince piece attached in centre of chain which had a hole in it but now filled in and a loop fixed on edge of it, a gold swivel seal attached to end of chain set with a blood stone and grey stone. Also an 18 ct plain gold ring, small size, set with two diamonds with coral in centre. Joseph F Hill a fitter and turner about 27, about 5 ft 6 or 7, complexion pale, eyes dark, hair fair and cut short inclined to be bald on top of head, clean shaven accept for a moustache of about a fortnights growth, thin face, high forehead, well built, dressed in long light overcoat, hard felt hat, dark jacket suit, dark tie, turned down collar, white shirt, black lace up boots. Information to Superintendent Hall Basingstoke. This man is a good musician and mechanic.
