From: Telephone message book: 11 Aug 1902 - 27...From Superintendent Wood to All Stations – Stolen from 3 Park Road Watford between 2.10 and 3.10 p.m. today the property of Joseph Stapley a lady’s small gold watch a neckless of pearls and some loose cash from a child’s money box, supposed by a man of the following description, 36 to 40, 5 ft 3 ins, rather red face no whiskers, dressed in covert coat, grey trousers, hard felt hat, driving a rough light chestnut pony in a slate coloured cart containing about 2 sacks of potatoes. A man of this description lodged at St Albans and left there about 2 p.m. yesterday stating he was going to Hertford.
