[From the Westminster Gazette – Tuesday 14 October 1902 – THE KING ATÂ NEWMARKET. A VISIT TO THE RACECOURSE. The King left St. Pancras at 12.05 to-day for Newmarket. His Majesty was accompanied by Lord Farquhar, Master of the Household, and the Hon. John Ward, one of his Equerries. His Majesty held a long conversation with Lord Claud Hamilton on the platform. A large crowd was present to witness the departure, and his Majesty was loudly cheered as the train left the station. The King reached Newmarket at 1.47 this afternoon, and drove in a closed carriage to the racecourse. His Majesty is expected to return to town on Friday next. In connexion with the Royal visit to the City on the 25th inst., the loyal and congratulatory address to their Majesties the King and Queen from the Metropolitan boroughs north of the Thames will be presented on behalf of the northern boroughs by the Mayor of Islington.
