Motor Car Accident Colliers End
From: Telephone message book: 11 Aug 1902 - 27...From Superintendent Duke to F and B Divisions – This afternoon at 3.30 a motor car came into collision with a pony and cart near Colliers End the pony the property of Mr. Toop High Street Ware was injured the boy in charge wanted the name and address of driver, the driver then assaulted the boy and some men near by went to the boys assistance the motor car then went off he states there were 4 men in the car and the man who assaulted him was an elderly man with whiskers the car had a yellow front and he believes the lamp or some other part was broken at about 4 pm a car answering the description crossed the railway crossing at Ware and proceeded in the direction of Hertford. I would thank you to have enquiries made as early as possible to ascertain possible name and address of driver.
