From: Telephone message book: 11 Aug 1902 - 27...Superintendent Wood sent an alert to all stations for a man who had escaped from Leavesden Asylum at 5.30 pm on the 16th August 1902 – William Steward Robinson age 22, height 5 feet 3 inches, complexion fresh, hair sandy, deaf and dumb, native of Poplar London where he has a sister at Poplar Workhouse, dressed in a tweed suit, light brown cap, probably a red necktie and lace up boots.
