Description of 2 men who stopped at Mrs. Archer’s Hill House, Bps. Stortford on the night of 28th Jan. 1st Age 45 to 50 height about 5ft 9in, dark complexion & moustache, medium build . Dress dark suit, brown overcoat, black hard felt hat. 2nd age 30 to 35, height about 5ft, clean shaven and acted as Groom to the above; the above had with them a horse and trap of the following description – black horse in good condition about 16 hands, black leather silver mounted harness & a high 2-wheel gig with silver plated fittings and silver plated key hole at back & painted dark colour.Police officer
