An inmate of the Buntingford Inebriates Home was found dead with his throat cut. At the Inquest the following day the conclusion was that he had cut his own throat whilst of unsound mind.

Private Gatward of the Hertfordshire Regiment was detained at Buntingford Railway Station by Great Eastern Railway staff for having failed to pay for his fare from St Margarets. He was unable to produce a leave pass.
