Further information was circulated re the German spy now said to be armed and dressed as a Boy Scout and having left Newcastle on the 26th August riding a motorcycle registration number LE2708.

Further information was circulated concerning the German spy dressed as a Scout who was seen near Amersham by Special Constables and shots were exchanged but the spy made his escape.

Details were circulated of two violent incidents. Firstly a revolver was fired at a Hitchin Constable when he tried to stop a motorcyclist in Highbury Road, fortunately they missed the Officer and the offender escaped. Secondly a Railway Signalman was attacked and left unconscious by two men armed with a knife at Northchurch.

Three boys all under 10 years of age were warned by PC Mapley after they ignited an old manure pile.

A man who was last seen early in the morning walking towards Ware was reported as missing later the same day. His details were circulated and enquiries made. He returned home 2 days later.
