    He joined Hertfordshire Constabulary in 1939 then enlisted in the Royal Artillery in 1942 serving until 1945 whereupon he re-joined the Constabulary and promoted Sergeant before retiring after 25 year's service.

    Waller, Ernest Edgar, 70, Police Constable.
    Having served as Private 3789 in the Bedfordshire Regiment he joined the Hertford County Constabulary in 1897. He was recalled to the Colours on 4th December 1899 for the Boer War but found to be unfit for service in South Africa. He re-joined the Police but then made a major error of judgement which saw him sent to prison. He later re-joined the Bedfordshire Regiment and served throughout WW1.
