The Proposed Increase Of Police Pay

Hertfordshire Mercury, 2nd February 1907

Transcript

Mr. Barnard asked what decision the Committee had come to with regard to the question discussed at the last meeting in reference to the Police Superannuation Act; and the proposed increase in the salaries of certain police officers?

The Chairman replied that the matter had been discussed by the Committee, and they had decided to postpone it for the present. The whole question would come up again and be fully considered at the next meeting of the Standing Joint Committee, and the Council would be informed in due course what decision was arrived at. In any case the proposal before the last meeting of the Council, which he admitted was arrived at with a little less deliberation than it might have been, could not have been carried out, as it would not have received the sanction of the Secretary of State.

Mr.Barnard: Thank you.
