Well-known Sergeant dies.
Well known in the Hertford Division of the Hertfordshire Constabulary , Sergeant Robert St. Patrick Johnson of No. 7 Police Cottages , Hertford , died suddenly on Sunday morning , aged 41 .
Sergeant Johnson came to Hertford from Welwyn Garden City a year ago , and for a short time was Patrol Sergeant before transferring to the Divisional Office in Castle Street as Office Sergeant .
He joined the Police Force 21 years ago , and served at Hitchin , Hatfield, and Watford , where he was promoted to Sergeant , and later appointed as Sergeant in charge of Welwyn Garden City Police Station , where he spent five years before moving to Hertford .
He was a native of London and during the war saw service in the R.A.F. as an engineer .
He leaves a widow and one son .
The funeral takes place today ( Friday ) at Enfield Crematorium following a service at All Saints’ Church .
