(took) your mother up to see it. She was (frightened) as the gunfire and the bombs (shook) the place. We were up there from (?) o’clock untill 3 in the morning. We saw aeroplanes chasing the zepp and (there) was one right over the top of it. (when) it caught fire it was a sight. (we) could see the stays and the girders (of) the zepp as it was diving to earth and you could have seen to read a (newspaper) so you can guess what (it) was like. The other zepp threw (out) the remainder of its bombs (and) passed over Stortford when it (saw) the other one ablaze. You should (have) heard the shouting. I shall never (forget) it. Although it was an awfull (sensation?) I would not have missed (it) for a hundred pounds. It is pouring (with) rain today otherwise I should have (gone) and had a look at it. Only 15 miles (from) here I saw the others. They are (smashed) to pieces.
