At Bishop’s Stortford Petty Sessions on Thursday, Minnie Maud Wheeler and John Reed were charged with stealing eleven forks and other property, value 10s., belonging to Mr Martin Alfred Bailey, of the Fox Brewery, Bishop’s Stortford.

Complainant said he missed the forks on Wednesday and questioned the defendant Wheeler, who was the servant, and she owned to taking them out of the wardrobe and giving them to Reed. She also admitted taking rings, pins, collars, cigars, cigarettes, a £5 note and £3.10s. in money.

The case was adjourned for a fortnight to enable the property to be traced. The girl, who is under 16, and belongs to Furneux Pelham, was admitted to bail on her father’s surety.
