By Daryk A

Hertfordshire Mercury, 17th October 1914

At Hertford Borough Assizes, the mayor complained of fireworks and bombs being let off in the town, and also the nuisance of the newspaper boys yelling at night, especially on Sundays, and asked Superintendent Pear if he could not put a stop to it.

Superintendent Pear replied that the bombs that were let off were mostly in private grounds and that he could not deal with them, but that he could deal with any street noises and that he would give the matter his attention.
