Bad language on the highway

At Hitchin Petty Sessions on Tuesday, Annie Walker, a married woman described as of no fixed abode, was charged with using bad language on the highway on a Sunday. P.C. Burrows said the woman’s conduct was so bad that a large crowd assembled. Defendant said she did not use the words complained of. She had been very badly treated by the crowd. She was sent to prison for seven days.
