Abstentee

Hertfordshire Mercury, 29th May 1915

Transcript

It is very rare that an occasional court is held at Cheshunt police station on a Bank Holiday, but such was the case on Monday, when Messrs J. Cull and F.B. Debenham attended for the hearing of cases which cropped up during the weekend. Private William Henry Shepherd, of High Street, Cheshunt, pleaded guilty to being an absentee from the 1st Herts. (T) Regt. at Hertford.

P.s. Fletcher gave evidence of arrest that morning, when the prisoner said he should have gone the previous night.  Remanded to await an escort.
