At Hitchin Sessions, Thomas Castle, a mechanic, of Baldock, was fined 10 shillings for riding a bicycle which had a powerful acetylene lamp burning.

In this case, it was said thet defendant had refused to stop when requested to do so by Police Sergeant Gray, but that he had been pulled up by a Special Constable who had put his stick in the bicycle wheel.
