John Wade, appeared at the Hertford Assizes for the murder of his wife, Martha Wade at Little Hormead on 10/3/1791. He utilized the defence of jealousy, but sadly for him, as this has no standing in law he was found guilty and hanged for the crime on Monday 1st August 1791.
