In the first week of April 1790, the murdered child of Thomas Riley a porter of the Lodge, Blue Coat Hospital, Hertford and Annie Hart, daughter of a nurse at the Hospital was found. Both were committed to the County Gaol at Hertford for the murder of their bastard child.
