Soldier knocked down whilst playing football

At 3 p.m. on Friday 21st April 1916, Lance Corporal McKenzie of the 10th Scottish Provisional Battalion, who was stationed in Bishop’s Stortford, was knocked down by a car in London Road whilst playing football with a fellow soldier. Unfortunately, McKenzie’s right leg was broken, and he was conveyed to the Red Cross Hospital in Hadham Road by the car which knocked him over !
