Petty sessions - highway offence

Highway Offence: Jacob Paternoster, of Whempstead, did not appear to answer summonses for riding asleep and without a light whilst in charge of a horse and cart at Ware on January 6th.

P.C. Bethel stated he found the defendant fast asleep in a cart upon which there was no light, and the Bench inflicted a fine of 10 shillings.
