Only human - footpath obstruction at Ware

Transcript

John PageĀ  senior . 65 , High Street , Ware , coal merchant etc. , was summoned for obstruction of the public footpath at Ware on February X (?).

P.c. Human said that at 11.30 a.m. on the day in question he saw five sacks of coal in front of defendant’s shop . They were protruding 2 feet on to the pavement . Witness called Mr Page’s attention to the sacks and Page replied ” I shall not move them until I see my solicitor . There have been there about 40 years daily .” Mr John Page junior , who appeared on behalf of his father, said the sacks had been on the pavement for a great many years. The case was dismissed on payment of 5 shillings costs .
